JD Classics will be supporting the 72nd Goodwood Members Meeting on 29-30 March with four very diverse competition car entries. The 72nd Goodwood Members Meeting is being held exclusively for members of the Goodwood Road Racing Club (GRRC) and revives the spirit of the club members motor race meetings, last held at the famous motor circuit in the mid-1960s.
JD Classics’ famous Patrick Motorsport-liveried 1980 Rover 3500 SD1 will be competing in the inaugural Saturday race at the 72nd Members Meeting – the two-part Gerry Marshall Trophy – a race for Group 1 production saloon cars of a type that raced between 1970 and 1982.
The JD Classics Rover will be driven by Chris Ward in the opening race, with Ward joined by team mate Andrew Smith for Part 2 in Race 9 on Sunday. Ward and Smith will be competing in a field of 30 saloons, as varied as a Mini 1275 GT, Ford Capris, Triumph Dolomite Sprints, Chevrolet Camaros, and other
Rover SD1s.
The second JD Classics race entry is the unique 1954 Bentley R-Type ‘Gooda’ Special, a large coupe competing in the Tony Gaze Trophy for 1950s production sports and GT cars. The one-off Gooda Bentley will be driven by Wil Arif, racing alongside AC Ace-Bristols, Aston Martin DB2/4s, Jaguar XK140s and Austin-Healey’s, amongst many others.
A JD Classics-prepared 1954 Austin-Healey 100S, an ex-Canadian Works car, will compete in Race 8, the Peter Collins Trophy on Sunday 30th March, running against a mixed field, including Frazer-Nash Le Mans Replicas, an Allard J2, Jaguar C-types, a Ferrari 750 Monza, and other Austin-Healey’s.
JD Classics’ founder and Managing Director, Derek Hood, will be campaigning his 1959 Costin Lister Jaguar in the Salvadori Cup race for sports cars of a type that raced between 1955 and 1960, on Sunday
30th March.
