Description
1959 XK150 S RHD 3.4 Drop Head Coupe
This wonderful car is an incredibly rare example being one of only 37 DHCs built in RHD and surviving in true time-warp condition with a fantastically preserved interior including irreplaceable original carpets and a very rare, factory ordered vinyl hood and hood bag.
Even more remarkable is the unparalleled history file that accompanies the car, which includes original invoices and correspondence with Jaguar Cars back to new and a set of unique mileage logs (embossed with the original registration number ‘S150’) that were compiled from 1959 to 1976 by the first owner Mr Esmond Seal, an Editor with the BBC. These logs offer unprecedented insights into sports car ownership of the period and include such intriguing details as the running-in schedule, overviews of Mr Seal’s journeys with the car, including trips to motor racing circuits and Pinewood studios, and the regular maintenance activities he undertook. The history file also includes numerous invoices from other garages, the original buff log book, period photographs and a Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirming that this is a matching numbers, UK delivered car.
As befitting a car that has been fastidiously maintained and cherished over its whole life, it retains its original factory paintwork of Mist Grey with Carmen Red painted 16 inch wire wheels and a wonderfully preserved Grey interior. This has to be one of the best and most original XK150s surviving and is almost certainly unique in the degree of documentation that accompanies it. To be sold with its original registration ‘S150’ subject to negotiation.
