1970 JAGUAR E-TYPE S2 4.2 MANUAL - Interesting S3 type wide body configuration.  

The icon so many wished they could own. For a few years now it has not been easy to get into the E-Type market at an affordable price for a driveable car. Here is that opportunity. 

Here is an interesting and probably unique E-Type fixed head coupe. This is a Series Two car, but at some point in its life it has been fitted with a Series 3 bonnet and has received flared rear wheel arches. The rear arches have been proportioned and fitted extremely well and blend beautifully into the rear quarters.

This elegant modification, carried out on a Series 2 body shell, has produced an extremely well balanced shape, arguably more so than the longer wheel base Series 3 car. The larger rims of the excellent chrome wire wheels add to the purposeful stance of the car, and adequately fill the flared arches. Some think the Series One and Series Two E-Type in standard form should have been built this way, the original wheels and tyres looking rather inadequate on such a high performance car.

This E-Type has also been fitted with a performance upgraded engine, with triple Weber carburettors, and a fabricated manifold. The twin fan cooling system on the later Series One and Series Two cars drastically improved the cooling, eradicating overheating in hot weather and slow traffic conditions.

The car presents well, with good gaps and acceptable paint and chrome. The chrome wheels are virtually as new, as are the spinners. However this is not a show car. It requires repair to the front corners of both floor wells, certainly repairable without major surgery. Otherwise the underside of the car appears original and sound. The interior, whilst not perfect, is in usable condition. Mechanically the car is again in usable condition, which undoubtedly could be improved over time. 

With very little work this is an ideal candidate for an everyday driver E-Type, which could be much improved without any major work. It is somewhat unusual to find an E-Type in such usable condition at such a reasonable price. Probably not one for the purist, but what a bargain for someone who wants to get on with some serious E-Type motoring.
