Jaguar MkII 3.8 litre Factory Competition Car. Battleship Grey/Red hide. Believed one of two factory competition department cars built to Tour de France specification. Purchased from the factory in January 1963 by Ray Archibald of Archibalds Garage Ltd, Christchurch, New Zealand. Archibald raced the car until July 1966 at which point he sold the car to M.J Allen of Waimarama, who used the car as a road car, before Archibald bought it back in March 1974. It was then used by Archibald as a road car until the mid-1980’s before returning to classic racing. Totally original and unmolested with original body panels and factory competition body strengthening, suspension. Engine with 2” SU carburettors, 9:1 pistons and gas flowed cylinder head, exhaust system, twin engine breather system, twin fuel pumps, clutch, close ratio gearbox, high ratio steering, wire wheels (original competition wire wheels currently undergoing professional rebuild), front brake cold air cooling ducts under front bumper, driver’s seat, battery relocated to spare wheel well etc. Original factory modification specification sheet available in the car's history file.
